BACKGROUND RESEARCH
My research process began with each poet featured in the three separate exhibitions. I dove into the life stories and work of each person to understand who they were, what they wrote about, and why they chose to write about it. I also drew connections between the three poets, and found that all of the poets focus on reflections of technology and modern society in their work.
VISUAL RESEARCH
My goal with this poster series was to create a typographic image that intrigued viewers and expressed the difficult relationship between modern technology and humanity. To determine how to best express these ideas, I approached the visual elements of the posters in several different experiments.

Pictured above are examples of free play exercises. In these exercises, I created whatever felt right in that moment without any end goal in mind. My only focus was on typography.

More examples of experimentation with different materials, including ink and a scanner.

Here are examples of photos I took while exploring campus in search of natural textures and found typography to use in my posters. It was during this process that I started to think about ways to combine the themes of technology and humanity with a focus on the physicality of the concept.

Examples of experimenting with physically manipulating type to create new expressive letterforms.
IDEATION
With all of the new material I obtained through the different experiments above, I moved into Adobe and began creating different ideations.

ITERATION
When iterating, I began with designing only one of the three posters to establish a solid design system before creating the rest of the series.
