RESEARCH
I chose the Common Eastern Firefly for my subject of this project. To begin my research, I gathered images of the firefly in multiple different environments and positions. I executed visual research by sketching the insect and trying to fully understand the basic shapes that make up the body, along with the essential traits of the firefly.
IDEATIONS
To begin creating the creature mark, I made different sketches of the firefly with special consideration of the different shapes that make up the figure. I used tracing paper to show the underlying grid of my ideations.
REFINEMENT
In the process of refinement, I started with one ideation and then switched to a different positioning of the mark that I felt better represented the firefly. I refined my mark based on critiques in class and my own reflections upon my work.
